Manchester United have received a major fitness boost as 22-year-old Danish defender Patrick Dorgu returned to full first-team training at Carrington.

Dorgu took part in Monday’s session alongside his teammates for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Denmark in September.
However, head coach Michael Carrick confirmed during his pre-match press conference that while Dorgu’s progress is ahead of schedule, the defender will not be involved in Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash against AS Roma at Old Trafford.
What Michael Carrick Said
“It’s his first day back with the group, Pat, so it’s great to have him back. He’s worked ever so hard to get back with the squad, but he won’t be involved tomorrow. We’ll see how he progresses through the week, but overall it’s great to have him back.”
Key Takeaways & Fitness Updates
- Aston Villa Target: With Dorgu ruled out for Tuesday night, United’s medical staff are targeting Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa for his potential return to the matchday squad.
- Left-Back Dilemma: Dorgu’s temporary absence leaves Diogo Dalot continuing at left-back, as Luke Shaw remains sidelined with an ongoing muscular injury.
- Other Absentees: Marcus Rashford (hip) and Benjamin Šeško (knee) also missed Monday’s training session and remain unavailable.
