Barcelona pushing for Bastoni deal as Inter set to decide his future

Barcelona has officially identified Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni as their primary defensive target for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona pushing for Bastoni deal as Inter set to decide his future.

Hansi Flick and the club’s sporting department are reportedly determined to land a high-caliber, left-footed center-back to pair with young sensation Pau Cubarsí, and Bastoni is the “dream” profile they’ve been tracking for months.

The 26-year-old Italian international is well aware of Barcelona’s concrete interest.

Recent social media activity, including Bastoni frequently interacting with Cubarsí’s posts, has fueled speculation that the player is open to a move to Spain.

His technical ability and deep playmaking skills from the back are seen as a perfect fit for Flick’s high-intensity system.

The Negotiation Hurdles

While the interest is real, the financial side of the deal remains a major talking point.

  • The Price Tag: Reports on the asking price are currently conflicted. Some sources in Italy suggest Inter might listen to offers starting at €50 million (plus variables) as they look to fund their own squad rebuild. However, other reports indicate that the Nerazzurri view Bastoni as “untouchable” and would demand a package closer to €70 million to €80 million, or even as high as €100 million to ward off interest.
  • Contract Status: Bastoni is currently under contract at the San Siro until June 2028. Because of this long-term deal, Inter is under no immediate pressure to sell, and there are even whispers that the club is preparing a mega-money extension offer to tie him down until 2030.

Barcelona’s Strategy

Barcelona’s pursuit depends heavily on their ability to return to La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule. Unlike previous windows where they tried to include players as “make-weights,” the current hierarchy reportedly prefers a straightforward cash transaction to avoid complicating the negotiations.

If the price tag for Bastoni proves too high, the club is already scouting alternatives. Names like Pau Torres, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven have been mentioned as secondary options, but for now, all eyes in the Barcelona boardroom are firmly on Bastoni.
