The Premier League relegation picture has reached its boiling point. Following a dramatic weekend of action, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have mathematically secured their top-flight status for the 2026/27 season, leaving two London giants to fight for their lives.

The Great Escape: Nottingham Forest and Leeds Secure Safety as West Ham Falter

Forest and Leeds Breathe Easy

The safety of both clubs was cemented following West Ham’s 0-1 defeat to Arsenal at the London Stadium on Sunday, May 10.

• **Nottingham Forest (15th, 43 pts): After a massive 3-1 win over Chelsea last week, Forest’s current tally is now officially out of reach for 18th-placed West Ham, who can only reach a maximum of 42 points.

• Leeds United (16th, 43 pts): Currently on an impressive six-game unbeaten run, Leeds have also hit the magic 43-point mark. Even with a game in hand, they are safe from the drop regardless of their result against Tottenham tonight.

The Nightmare Scenario: West Ham vs. Tottenham

With Burnley and Wolves already relegated, the final “trap door” to the Championship is now a straight fight between two of London’s biggest clubs

  • West Ham’s Despair: The Hammers were denied a crucial point against Arsenal after a late Callum Wilson equalizer was ruled out by VAR for a marginal offside. They now sit in the relegation zone, trailing Spurs by one point having played a game more.
  • Tottenham’s Opportunity: Spurs have their destiny in their own hands. They host Leeds United tonight (Monday, May 11) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A win would move them four points clear of West Ham with only two games left for the Hammers to play, putting Julen Lopetegui’s side on the brink of disaster.

A Historic Collapse?

The fact that Tottenham—who were in the Champions League just a few seasons ago—is embroiled in a final-week relegation battle has stunned the football world. Under caretaker management after a disastrous mid-season run, the Lilywhites are desperate to avoid their first relegation from the top flight since 1977.

With Tottenham facing a “safe” but in-form Leeds side tonight, do you think the pressure of the relegation spotlight will cause Spurs to crumble at home, or will their superior individual quality finally drag them to safety?
