POLOKWANE, South Africa – Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was the hero for Chippa United, making a crucial penalty save in the 92nd minute to help his side earn a valuable point in a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.
The match, played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, saw Chippa United take the lead through Boy Madingwane in the 53rd minute.
However, Sekhukhune were awarded a penalty just over ten minutes from time, and Bradley Grobler converted to level the score.
The drama was not over, as Sekhukhune were awarded a second penalty in stoppage time, presenting them with a golden opportunity to secure all three points.
But Nwabali, who has a well-known reputation as a penalty-saving specialist, rose to the occasion, denying Grobler from the spot.
The save ensured that Chippa United, who have had a difficult start to the season, came away with a much-needed point on the road.
