The deal is officially sealed. Bournemouth have activated the mandatory purchase clause for Alex Jimenez, making the Spanish right-back a permanent member of Andoni Iraola’s squad.
The “obligation to buy” was triggered this past Saturday when Jimenez played 86 minutes against Aston Villa, hitting the milestone of starting (or playing 45+ mins) in 50% of the Premier League matches he has been available for.
The Financial Package
- The Fixed Fee: €19.5 million (£16.5m) paid to AC Milan.
- The Add-ons: An additional €5.3 million in performance-related bonuses.
- The Contract: A five-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until June 2031.
The Real Madrid Factor
Because of the terms of Jimenez’s move from Madrid to Milan in 2023, the windfall is being split: - Real Madrid: Will receive 50% of the sale profit, roughly €9.75 million plus half of any future add-ons.
- AC Milan: Will pocket the other half of the fixed fee, providing a significant boost for their summer 2026 transfer budget.
Iraola’s Ever-Present Star
Jimenez has been a revelation for the Cherries since arriving on loan in September 2025. Able to play across the backline and even in midfield, the 20-year-old has established himself as one of the league’s most promising young full-backs.
With the permanent deal now signed, all buy-back rights held by previous clubs have reportedly expired, giving Bournemouth full control over his future.
The club is expected to hold an official “unveiling” ceremony at the Vitality Stadium within the next week to celebrate their first major piece of business for the 2026/27 planning cycle.
