As the 2025–26 season enters its final stretch, the future of Paulo Dybala has become one of the most talked-about storylines in Italian football.

Paulo Dybala Remains Focused on Roma Amid Looming Free Agency

While speculation regarding his next destination is intensifying, reports as of April 30, 2026, indicate that the Argentine has not yet made a definitive decision regarding his next club.

The Current Situation

  • Contract Status: Dybala’s current contract with AS Roma is set to expire on June 30, 2026. While an automatic renewal clause was triggered last year to extend his stay until this summer, no further agreement has been reached to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico beyond the current campaign.
  • Roma’s Stance: Under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the club appears to be at a crossroads. While Dybala remains a vital creative spark, reports suggest that any potential new deal would likely require a significant reduction in his current €8m-per-season salary—a condition that has stalled negotiations.
  • The “Agreement” Rumors: Despite the player’s camp maintaining that he is focused solely on the pitch, major outlets in Argentina, including ESPN, have recently claimed that an “agreement in principle” is already in place for Dybala to join Boca Juniors on a free transfer after the 2026 World Cup.

Focus on the Finish Line

For now, “La Joya” has made it clear that his immediate priority is helping Roma secure a strong finish in Serie A and their European campaign.

“Today, I play for Roma, I have to defend this shirt,” Dybala stated in a recent interview. “It would be good [to return to Argentina], you never know… but right now I have to give my best here.”

With only a handful of games remaining, Dybala’s focus is on securing Champions League qualification for the Giallorossi.

Once the domestic season concludes and the World Cup spotlight fades, the 32-year-old is expected to sit down with his representatives to evaluate formal offers from Boca Juniors, Inter Miami, and interest from the Saudi Pro League.

With Dybala reportedly weighing a return to Argentina after 14 years in Italy, do you think moving to Boca Juniors at 32 is the right step for his legacy, or does he still have another “elite” European chapter left in him?
