The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has officially confirmed former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo as the new head coach of the Ecuador national team.
The 50-year-old Argentine tactician takes charge on a deal running through to the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

- Succession:Gallardo replaces fellow Argentine Sebastián Beccacece, who departed following Ecuador’s Round of 32 exit against co-hosts Mexico at the 2026 World Cup.
- Official Statement:FEF president Francisco Egas announced the move on social media, stating: “We sought out Marcelo Gallardo because of his achievements, but above all for what he represents. Welcome to Ecuador, Marcelo.”
- Management Debut:Gallardo is scheduled to make his debut on the sidelines during a friendly match against South Korea on September 24.
