London, UK – Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha has successfully completed his medical examination today, finalizing the last hurdle before his highly anticipated move to Tottenham Hotspur.

João Palhinha Completes Tottenham Medical, Set to Sign Loan Deal

The transfer, which has been in the works for a number of days, is a loan deal from Bayern Munich.

The clubs have agreed on a structured deal that sees Tottenham cover Palhinha’s full salary for the season. A key detail of the agreement is a €30 million (£26 million) buy option clause, which is not mandatory.

This gives Spurs the flexibility to make the move permanent at the end of the season should the 30-year-old midfielder impress under new head coach Thomas Frank.

Palhinha, who joined Bayern Munich just last summer, will now return to the Premier League where he previously excelled with Fulham.

His departure from the Bundesliga champions comes after he struggled for regular first-team opportunities under manager Vincent Kompany.

With the medical now completed and all formal steps between the clubs having been agreed, an official announcement from Tottenham Hotspur is expected imminently.

Fans will be eager to see their new defensive midfielder in action as the club prepares for its Champions League campaign.
