Burnley Football Club have officially confirmed the departure of Head Coach Scott Parker, who leaves his position by mutual consent as of Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Burnley Part Ways with Scott Parker Following Relegation

The Decision

The move follows the confirmation of the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League last week, after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City. Following discussions between Parker and the board, both parties agreed that a change in leadership was the best step forward as the club prepares for life back in the Championship.
In an official statement, the club expressed its gratitude:

“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.

Reflecting on the Journey

Parker’s tenure at Turf Moor was a tale of two very different seasons:

• The Record-Breaking Promotion: In the 2024/25 campaign, Parker guided Burnley to a historic promotion, featuring a 33-match unbeaten run and a remarkable 30 clean sheets.

• A Difficult Top-Flight Return: The current Premier League campaign proved far more challenging, with the team managing just four wins and sitting in 19th place with four games remaining.

In a farewell message to the supporters, Parker stated:

“It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years. I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved, especially our unforgettable promotion season, but I feel now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction.”

The Immediate Future

• Interim Leadership: Mike Jackson, supported by the existing backroom staff, will take interim charge of the first team for the final four matches of the season.

• Upcoming Fixture: Jackson’s first match in charge will be Friday’s away clash against Leeds United.

• The Search Begins: The club has already initiated the process of appointing a permanent successor to lead the 2026/27 campaign.

With the search for a new permanent head coach already underway, what profile of manager do you think Burnley needs to ensure they can bounce back from the Championship at the first attempt next season?
