Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong have unfortunately missed out on a nomination for the prestigious FIFA FIFPro World XI.
The annual award recognizes the world’s best footballers based on their performances over the past year. Despite impressive seasons for their respective clubs, both Nigerian stars failed to make the final 26-player shortlist.
The list includes football giants like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Kevin De Bruyne, among others.
While the absence of Nigerian players is disappointing, it highlights the high level of competition in world football.
The final World XI will be selected through a voting process involving professional footballers from around the globe. The results will be announced on December 9th.
