London, England – Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana will miss the remainder of the current season after undergoing successful hamstring surgery.
The club confirmed the news today, stating that the operation was necessary after the 24-year-old suffered a muscle injury.
Fofana had only recently returned to the Chelsea squad following a lengthy absence due to a previous hamstring issue.
He featured in the matches against Leicester City and Arsenal in March but was notably absent from the squad that defeated Tottenham Hotspur.
Following assessment by specialists, it was determined that surgery was the best course of action.
Fofana will now begin his recovery and rehabilitation program with the Chelsea medical staff at Cobham.
This latest injury setback is a significant blow for both the player and Chelsea.
Fofana has endured a frustrating run of injuries since joining the club in August 2022, limiting his appearances.
