In one of the most unexpected twists of the summer transfer window, newly promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña are finalizing a deal to sign legendary Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to reports from L’Équipe, Matteo Moretto, and Luca Bendoni, a transfer agreement has been reached in principle between the Spanish outfit and Olympique de Marseille.
Inside the Financial Package
The deal represents an incredibly shrewd and highly ambitious coup for El Dépor as they prepare for their first top-flight campaign since 2018:
- The Transfer Fee: Marseille have agreed to let the veteran forward go for a nominal €1.5 million fee.
- The Contract: Aubameyang has agreed in principle to a two-year contract running until June 2028.
- Rejecting the Millions: To make this romantic return to Spain possible, the 37-year-old rejected a highly lucrative offer from Turkish side Çorum FK, who had presented him with a two-year net contract worth €3.5 million per season.
Elevating the Newly Promoted Underdogs
Having secured promotion back to the promised land of La Liga, Deportivo are heavily intent on proving they belong in the first division. Bringing in Aubameyang—who boasts 83 international caps for Gabon and previously enjoyed a prolific spell in Spain with FC Barcelona—provides immediate elite leadership and pedigree to their frontline.
Aubameyang remains a lethal threat even in the autumn of his career, coming off a highly productive campaign where he bagged 10 goals and 5 assists across 30 league appearances for Marseille.
Only the final legal signatures and standard medical examinations remain before the former Arsenal and Chelsea star is officially presented at the Estadio Riazor.
