Leicester, UK – Leicester City have announced that manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club by mutual consent, with immediate effect.
The decision comes after a challenging period for the Foxes, which saw them relegated from the Premier League at the end of the recently concluded season.
The club confirmed the termination of the Dutch coach’s contract on Friday morning, bringing an end to his tenure that began in November 2024.
Van Nistelrooy was unable to steer Leicester clear of relegation, and despite expressing a willingness to stay, a mutual agreement was reached for his departure.
In a statement, Leicester City thanked van Nistelrooy for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment during his time at the club, including his efforts in integrating promising academy players into the first team.
Van Nistelrooy also issued a statement, thanking the players, coaches, staff, and fans for their support and wishing the club well for the future.
The departure of the former Manchester United striker means Leicester City will now begin the search for a new manager as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
Pre-season training is set to commence on Monday, June 30, with first-team coaching staff overseeing the plans until a new appointment is made.
