Robert Lewandowski has officially etched his name deeper into the record books, standing alone as the most versatile scorer in UEFA Champions League history.

Following his performance against Newcastle United on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the Polish striker has now found the net against 41 different opponents in the competition.

Robert Lewandowski reaches 41 teams scored against in UCL history — a new record

By scoring twice in Barcelona’s dominant 7-2 second-leg victory at the Spotify Camp Nou, Lewandowski surpassed the previous record of 40 different victims held by Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo sits in third place on this specific list, having scored against 38 different teams during his time in Europe.

Lewandowski’s incredible journey to this record has spanned over 14 years and three different clubs.

He opened his Champions League account back in 2011 with Borussia Dortmund against Olympiacos and has since tallied 109 goals in the competition.

His scoring spread across his career looks like this:

  • Bayern Munich: 69 goals
  • Barcelona: 23 goals
  • Borussia Dortmund: 17 goals

Among his many “victims,” Portuguese giants Benfica have suffered the most, conceding nine goals to the striker. Other frequent targets include Crvena zvezda (7 goals), Red Bull Salzburg (6), and Real Madrid (6).

At 37 years old, Lewandowski also set a secondary milestone during the win over Newcastle, becoming the oldest player to score a brace in a Champions League knockout match.

His longevity continues to defy expectations, as he remains the third-highest goalscorer in the tournament’s history, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (140) and Lionel Messi (129).

With Barcelona now through to the quarter-finals, Lewandowski will have the chance to extend this record even further if the Blaugrana draw an opponent he hasn’t scored against yet.
