PARIS, FRANCE – Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed a significant injury setback for their French superstar and reigning Ballon d’Or winner, Ousmane Dembélé.

Ousmane Dembélé Out for Weeks with Calf Injury

The attacker has suffered a left calf injury that will keep him on the sidelines for several weeks, severely disrupting PSG’s attacking plans and the French national team’s crucial fixtures.

Forced Off Early Against Bayern

Dembélé’s injury occurred early in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

He was forced to leave the pitch in the 25th minute, signalling discomfort in his leg after seeing an earlier goal disallowed for offside. PSG’s medical update today confirmed the diagnosis:

“Ousmane Dembélé has picked up an injury to his left calf and will therefore remain on the treatment table for the next few weeks.”

The muscular issue, though not related to the hamstring injury he sustained in September, is a painful recurrence of fitness problems that have plagued his career.

Missing Crucial Club and Country Fixtures

The expected recovery time of “several weeks” means the 28-year-old will miss a crucial stretch of the football calendar:

  • International Break: He is immediately ruled out of the upcoming international break, where the French national team needs him for important FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
  • Club Fixtures: Dembélé will be absent for key Ligue 1 fixtures, including this weekend’s tough trip to Lyon, as well as vital Champions League group stage matches against sides like Tottenham Hotspur. His return is highly unlikely before the new year.

Luis Enrique Seeks Attacking Cover

Dembélé’s creative output will be sorely missed. Manager Luis Enrique now faces the immediate task of reconfiguring his attack for the critical final weeks of 2025.

With the French star out, the spotlight falls heavily on players like Gonçalo Ramos, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Bradley Barcola to step up and provide the goals and attacking dynamism needed to maintain PSG’s domestic lead and secure their progression in Europe.
