Liverpool, UK – Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Hungarian international left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a deal worth a reported £40 million.

Milos Kerkez Joins Liverpool in £40m Deal from Bournemouth

The 21-year-old has sealed and signed his contract, becoming the third major addition of the summer for new head coach Arne Slot.

Kerkez underwent his medical at the AXA Training Centre earlier this week before the official announcement. He is understood to have signed a long-term contract, reportedly for five years, with the Premier League champions.

This marks a significant investment by Liverpool as they continue to reshape their squad under Slot.

Kerkez is expected to compete for the starting left-back position, with the move raising questions about the long-term futures of both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at Anfield.

Kerkez joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player for the Cherries.

His energetic and attacking style, coupled with his defensive prowess, saw him make 38 Premier League appearances last season, contributing two goals and six assists.

Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously worked at Bournemouth, played a key role in bringing Kerkez to the Vitality Stadium and has now brought him to Anfield for a second time.

Kerkez’s arrival follows the earlier high-profile signings of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a British-record deal that could rise to £116 million, and Jeremie Frimpong also from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million. Additionally, young goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi has joined from Hungary for £1.8 million.

These deals bring Liverpool’s total summer spending to over £200 million as they aim to build on their Premier League title success and compete across all fronts.

Upon his official unveiling, Kerkez expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.”

Fans will be eager to see Kerkez integrate into Arne Slot’s new-look squad when pre-season training commences.
