Manchester United are on the verge of securing the long-term future of their midfield sensation, Kobbie Mainoo.

The 20-year-old academy graduate is reportedly close to signing a massive contract extension that would keep him at Old Trafford until June 2031.

Kobbie Mainoo set to sign new deal with Manchester United as agreement nears completi

The new deal has been a top priority for the club since the appointment of interim manager Michael Carrick in January 2026. Under Carrick’s leadership, Mainoo has become an undisputed starter, completely reversing his situation from earlier in the season when he struggled for minutes under former head coach Ruben Amorim.

His resurgence has been so impressive that it even earned him a recall to the England national team by Thomas Tuchel for this month’s fixtures against Uruguay and Japan.

While Mainoo’s current contract wasn’t set to expire until 2027, the new agreement reflects his standing as one of Europe’s elite young talents. Reports suggest the deal includes a “significant” salary hike, potentially quadrupling his weekly wages to around £120,000.

This move is seen as a strategic step by INEOS to lock down their homegrown core, especially with veteran midfielder Casemiro confirmed to be leaving the club at the end of this season.

Negotiations have been ongoing since January, and while final details are still being polished, both the club and the player’s camp are said to be highly optimistic.

An official announcement is expected before the end of the current campaign, signaling a new era for United’s midfield built around the composure and technical brilliance of their No. 37.

Along with Mainoo, veteran defender Harry Maguire is also reportedly nearing a contract resolution, further stabilizing the squad as they sit third in the Premier League and push for a strong finish.
