London, UK – The transfer of highly-rated Dutch defender Jorrel Hato to Chelsea is now a done deal.
The 19-year-old is undergoing his medical tests in London today, which is the final step before he officially becomes a Chelsea player.
Documents between Chelsea and Ajax have been completed and signed, confirming an agreement for a fee of approximately €43 million (£37 million), which also includes a sell-on clause.
This signals a victory for the Blues after weeks of negotiations, with Ajax initially holding out for a figure closer to €60 million.
Hato is expected to sign a long-term contract with Chelsea, running until June 2032.
This seven-year deal is in line with Chelsea’s strategy of securing top young talent on extended contracts.
The versatile defender, who can play as a center-back or left-back, is a product of Ajax’s renowned academy.
He has already made over 100 first-team appearances for the club, showcasing a maturity and technical ability beyond his years.
