The record books are being completely rewritten in North London. Following the confirmation of Arsenal’s historic Premier League title triumph on Tuesday night, 16-year-old sensation Max Dowman has officially become the youngest player in history to win a Premier League winners’ medal.

The Hale End academy graduate, who was born on December 31, 2009, will be just 16 years and 144 days old by the final day of the campaign this Sunday, comfortably obliterating the previous long-standing milestone.

Dethroning Phil Foden

Dowman’s achievement strips the record away from Manchester City’s Phil Foden, who was 17 years and 350 days old when he earned his first medal under Pep Guardiola at the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.
To qualify for an official, commemorative Premier League champions’ medal, a player must make a minimum of five league appearances over the course of the season. Having been consistently trusted by Mikel Arteta down the stretch—including crucial second-half cameos against Bournemouth and Fulham—Dowman hit that magic threshold to guarantee his place in football folklore.

A Season of Unprecedented Super-Milestones

The title victory caps off a truly stratospheric breakout season for the teenage midfielder, who has consistently made a mockery of age barriers over the last nine months:

  • The Scoring Record: In March 2026, Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days old, netting a spectacular solo strike to seal a 2-0 victory against Everton. In doing so, he broke James Vaughan’s 21-year-old record by a massive 197 days.
  • The Debut: Having made his senior debut against Leeds United back in August while still only 15, he also stands as the division’s second-youngest player of all time, behind teammate Ethan Nwaneri.
  • The Recognition: Just last week, his explosive introduction to senior football was recognized on a national scale when he was awarded the Premier League’s Home Grown Debutant of the Season.

Hale End’s New Guard

Dowman is part of a highly celebrated, youthful core that has injected fresh energy into Arteta’s title-winning machine. Alongside the likes of Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, the teenager represents a new generation of academy talent successfully making the leap directly into a championship-winning first team.
With a final-day celebration awaiting the Gunners at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace this Sunday, Dowman will legally lift the trophy before he is even old enough to book a car rental or apply for a provisional driving license in the UK.

With Max Dowman breaking both the all-time scoring and title-winning records at just 16 years old, do you think Mikel Arteta should fast-track him into becoming a regular starter next season, or is a cautious, Phil Foden-style developmental path the safest bet to protect his long-term future?
