In a significant development for both Italian and English football, Gino Pozzo is reportedly in the process of selling Serie A club Udinese.

Gino Pozzo Set to Sell Udinese, Focus Shifts Solely to Watford's Premier League Push

The Italian owner’s decision, as reported by @SkySportsNews, is driven by a desire to focus his full attention on taking Watford back to the Premier League.

The Pozzo family has owned Udinese for a remarkable 39 years, making this a truly momentous change in the Serie A landscape.

Multiple reports in Italy recently indicated that the family had agreed to sell Udinese to an American company for around €150 million (£125 million), bringing an end to their nearly four-decade tenure.

While the exact buyer is yet to be formally named, sources suggest it’s a US-based group.

This strategic move by Pozzo signifies a clear and undivided commitment to Watford FC.

Having owned the Hornets since 2012, he has overseen three promotions to the Premier League but also two relegations.

Watford finished 14th in the Championship last season, and the sale of Udinese is seen as a pivotal step in dedicating resources and energy to the English club’s aspirations for top-flight football.

For Watford fans, this news offers renewed hope that the club will receive the concentrated focus needed to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion.

The proceeds from the Udinese sale, while not necessarily directly injected into the transfer budget, are expected to reduce the need to sell key players and allow for a more robust financial backing for the team.

This summer could see a significant shift in Watford’s approach as Pozzo aims to deliver on his promise of taking the Hornets back to the Premier League.
