Istanbul, Turkey – Fenerbahçe are reportedly in the final stages of an agreement to sign Marco Asensio, with the deal nearing a “here we go” confirmation.
The Spanish international winger has accepted Fenerbahçe’s contract proposal and has already given his “yes” to the move, as reported by Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.
The transfer now awaits the “final green light” from Paris Saint-Germain, Asensio’s current club. Reports indicate that PSG and Fenerbahçe have already reached an agreement on the transfer fee, which is widely reported to be around €15 million, potentially with additional bonuses.
Asensio, 29, spent the second half of the recently concluded 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa, where he impressed with 8 goals and 1 assist in 21 appearances, despite his form dipping towards the end of the loan spell.
He had returned to PSG for pre-season but was left out of their Club World Cup squad, signaling his impending departure.
The prospect of working under José Mourinho, Fenerbahçe’s new manager, is understood to be a significant factor in Asensio’s decision. Super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents both Asensio and Mourinho, has reportedly played a key role in facilitating these discussions.
While there were earlier reports of Asensio considering other options, including AC Milan and potentially even a return to La Liga, his personal agreement with Fenerbahçe now puts the Turkish club in a strong position.
He is expected to sign a long-term contract with Fenerbahçe, with some reports suggesting an annual salary offer of around €9 million net, though negotiations over the exact figures may have been ongoing.
Asensio’s current contract with PSG expires in June 2026, meaning PSG is willing to sell to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
For Fenerbahçe, this signing would be a major statement of intent, adding a proven winner with Champions League experience to their squad as they look to challenge for the Süper Lig title and compete in European competitions under Mourinho.
