Bayern Munich’s top transfer target for this summer remains Athletic Club’s highly-rated winger Nico Williams, who is also at the top of Arsenal’s wishlist.
The Bavarian giants have reportedly met with Williams’ representatives twice this month, and more meetings are expected to follow as they intensify their pursuit.
While Williams has a release clause of €58 million in his contract, the crucial and potentially difficult point in negotiations will be his salary requests.
Reports indicate that the 22-year-old is seeking a significant wage, potentially exceeding £300,000-a-week (or €20 million gross per season), which would make him one of the highest earners in Europe.
This figure has reportedly made a move difficult even for Arsenal and previously for Barcelona, who were also heavily linked.
Bayern Munich sees Williams as a key replacement following the departure of Leroy Sané to Galatasaray.
His pace, dribbling ability, and strong performances, particularly after a breakout campaign where Spain won the Euros, have made him a coveted asset.
