Barcelona are reportedly on the cusp of finalizing a long-term agreement with Spanish goalkeeper Joan García, with negotiations now very advanced and an official announcement expected in the coming days.
The Catalan giants are confident of securing his “green light” soon, as they aim to complete the deal swiftly to pre-empt interest from several Premier League clubs.
García, a 24-year-old shot-stopper from city rivals Espanyol, has been a priority target for Barcelona for several weeks.
His impressive performances for Espanyol, particularly in helping them avoid relegation from La Liga this past season, have garnered significant attention across Europe.
While Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa have all been linked with García, it appears Barcelona has moved decisively to convince him to join their project.
Reports suggest Barcelona has put forth a five-year contract proposal, and concerns García may have had about playing time alongside Marc-André ter Stegen have reportedly been addressed by sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick.
Once personal terms are fully agreed, Barcelona is expected to activate García’s release clause, which is understood to be around €25 million.
