BIRMINGHAM, UK – Aston Villa has secured a major commitment for the January transfer window, finalizing an agreement with Brazilian club Grêmio to sign highly-rated 19-year-old winger Alysson.
The move, confirmed with the decisive “here we go,” is a significant acquisition for Unai Emery’s side, which is actively looking to strengthen its squad following an impressive start to the Premier League season.
The transfer fee for the young attacker is set at an initial €10 million, with an additional €2 million in performance-related add-ons, making the total package worth up to €12 million (approximately £10.5 million). Brazilian reports indicate that Alysson, who plays primarily as a right-winger and had a standout 2025 season in the Série A, gave up part of his share of the transfer fee to help accelerate the deal.
This investment underscores Villa’s commitment to signing high-potential players under the age of 21.
Alysson is expected to travel to England soon to undergo his medical examination and officially sign his contract at Villa Park before the end of December.
While the initial fee is high for a teenage talent, Villa views him as a long-term strategic investment, especially considering the potential departure of players like Harvey Elliott and the need for attacking depth ahead of the latter stages of the Premier League and European campaigns.
