AS Roma are actively maintaining contacts with Bologna regarding Jhon Lucumí, identifying the Colombian international as a key target for their central defensive position.

AS Roma Maintains Contacts for Jhon Lucumí Amid Premier League Interest

The Giallorossi, now under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini, are keen to fortify their backline for the upcoming 2025-2026 season and beyond.

Lucumí, 26, has been a standout performer for Bologna, playing a crucial role in their successful campaign that saw them qualify for the Champions League and win the Coppa Italia.

His strong displays have not only attracted Roma’s attention but also sparked keen interest from several Premier League clubs, who are now awaiting Bologna’s stance and pricing for the defender.

Bologna, however, appears to be playing hardball. While Lucumí’s contract is set to expire in June 2026, putting them in a position where they might consider a sale to avoid losing him for free next summer, they have reportedly rejected initial approaches.

Market whispers suggest Bologna is anticipating a transfer fee in the ballpark of €18 million to €28 million, with some reports mentioning a release clause of €28 million.

Earlier in the transfer window, Bournemouth reportedly had a €15 million bid plus bonuses rejected, as Bologna aims to exceed €20 million from his sale.

Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Brighton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Leeds United have all been credited with interest in Lucumí, highlighting the strong competition Roma faces.

Galatasaray and Inter Milan are also reportedly in the mix.
The Colombian defender’s market value is said to be at a career high, making him a highly sought-after asset.

The coming days will be pivotal as Bologna’s definitive pricing becomes clearer, potentially igniting a bidding war between Serie A and Premier League heavyweights for Lucumí’s signature.
