Arsenal have officially confirmed that highly-rated teenage defender Marli Salmon has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.
The deal secures the 16-year-old’s future at the Emirates Stadium, with his first professional contract set to take effect when he turns 17 on August 29, 2026.
A Rapid Rise at Hale End
Salmon, who has been with the Arsenal academy since joining at the age of nine in 2019, has enjoyed a breakout season that has seen him thrust into the first-team spotlight:
- First-Team Milestone: He made his senior debut in a 3–0 Champions League victory over Club Brugge in December 2025, becoming the fourth-youngest player to represent the club in European competition at just 16 years and 102 days old.
- Versatility and Composure: Known for his calm presence on the ball, the England U-17 international is equally comfortable playing as a centre-back or right-back.
- Breakthrough Campaign: Beyond his European debut, Salmon has featured in the FA Cup, including a start against Mansfield Town in the fifth round, and has been a frequent presence around Mikel Arteta’s senior squad throughout the current campaign.

Speaking to Arsenal Media following the announcement, an elated Salmon reflected on what this moment means to him as a lifelong supporter of the club:
“It’s a very big moment for me, for my family as well. I’m very proud. I’ve been at the academy since I was nine and I just want to give everything to the club. I’m an Arsenal supporter, and I’ve had some great memories so far. I’m so proud to have made my debut this season, I just want to keep pushing on still, keep my levels high and try to get as much experience as I can in the first team.”
