PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL – Brazilian winger Willian is set to return to his homeland, with a deal now complete for him to join Grêmio on a free transfer.
The former Fulham player is traveling to Brazil today in order to undergo a medical and sign his contract, which will see him play in his home country for the first time in over a decade.
The 37-year-old had been a free agent since his contract with Fulham expired in July.
Despite considering another season in the Premier League, Willian has opted to sign an 18-month deal with Grêmio, bringing his career back to where it all started.
The deal is expected to run until the end of 2026.
Willian, who has previously played for top European clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal, will bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the Grêmio squad.
