London, UK – West Ham United have officially completed the signing of veteran striker Callum Wilson on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old joins the Hammers after his contract with Newcastle United expired at the end of last season.

Wilson, who has signed a one-year contract with a heavily incentive-based salary, completed his medical and has now joined up with his new teammates.

The move brings a wealth of Premier League experience to the West Ham attack, a quality manager Graham Potter was keen to add.

In an official statement, Wilson expressed his delight at the move, saying: “I’m excited to be joining a massive Football Club like West Ham. A club that shares a similar passion to mine, hard work, dedication and also I strive for success so I’m glad to be a part of it.”

Wilson’s arrival comes as West Ham look to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Michail Antonio, whose contract also expired.

While Wilson endured an injury-hit season with Newcastle last year, failing to score a single Premier League goal, his overall record of 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies and 88 total Premier League goals speaks for itself.

Wilson becomes West Ham’s third signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters.

The club and its fans will be hoping he can rediscover his goal-scoring form and provide a crucial attacking threat for the upcoming season.
