A verbal agreement is already in place, and the contract is expected to be signed this week, with some reports indicating it could be as soon as Friday, July 11.

The plan for Svilar’s extension has reportedly “never been in doubt,” despite earlier reports of interest from other top European clubs, including AC Milan, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Bournemouth.

Both Svilar and AS Roma have maintained optimism throughout the negotiations.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been a standout performer for Roma, particularly in the recently concluded 2024/25 season, where he established himself as the undisputed number one.

He kept an impressive 16 clean sheets in 38 Serie A games and conceded just 35 goals, earning him the Serie A Best Goalkeeper award and a place in The Athletic’s Serie A Team of the Season.

Svilar’s current contract was set to expire in 2027, but his exceptional performances convinced Roma to offer a significantly improved deal.

The new agreement is expected to include a substantial salary increase, reportedly rising to around €3.5 million to €4 million net per season, a considerable jump from his previous earnings.

This long-term commitment from Svilar is a major boost for AS Roma under new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who reportedly views the goalkeeper as a crucial part of his project.

It solidifies Roma’s goalkeeping position and demonstrates their ability to retain key talent amidst strong external interest.
