Manchester City have now officially initiated club-to-club talks with AC Milan regarding the transfer of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who has been identified as a top target for the Premier League champions.
These negotiations are set to continue into next week, with an opening bid expected to be submitted very soon.
City’s desire to act swiftly in securing Reijnders’ services is twofold: they aim to integrate him into the squad well in advance of the FIFA Club World Cup, and they also want to pre-empt potential competition from other top European clubs who are also keen on the talented midfielder.
This strong interest from City comes despite Reijnders having recently extended his contract with AC Milan until June 2030, a deal that was officially announced in early March 2025. He initially joined Milan in 2023 on a five-year contract.
Sources indicate that a potential transfer fee for Reijnders could be in the region of €60-70 million, with Milan reportedly aiming for the higher end of that valuation.
Reijnders has been a standout performer for AC Milan since his arrival, showcasing his dynamism, quality, and passion, and accumulating 16 goals in 90 appearances across all competitions in his two seasons.
His consistent displays have cemented his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising central midfielders, making him a prime candidate to bolster Manchester City’s midfield options.
