GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – Scottish Premiership side Celtic FC has completed the signing of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old forward arrives at Celtic Park on a one-year deal, with an option for a further year, after mutually terminating his contract with La Liga side Sevilla just 24 hours earlier.
The move marks a reunion between Iheanacho and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached the Nigerian during their time together at Leicester City.
Rodgers expressed his delight at the signing, stating that Iheanacho’s experience, athleticism, and work rate will make a significant contribution to the team.
Iheanacho’s transfer to Celtic comes at a crucial time for the club, who were in need of a striker after the departure of Adam Idah to Swansea City.
The Scottish champions moved swiftly to secure the forward, taking advantage of his free-agent status to sign him after the transfer deadline had passed for fee-paying transfers.
For Iheanacho, the move to Celtic represents an opportunity to revive his career after a difficult spell in Spain and a short-term loan at Middlesbrough.
He will now look to find his form under a familiar manager and help Celtic defend their domestic title and compete in the Europa League.
