London, UK – Brentford Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Keith Andrews as their new head coach on a three-year contract.

The 44-year-old Irishman steps up from his role as the Bees’ set-piece coach, a position he has held since July 2024.

Andrews takes over from Thomas Frank, who recently departed Brentford to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

This internal promotion continues a trend for Brentford, who also promoted Frank from assistant manager to head coach in 2018.

This marks Andrews’ first managerial role at a senior level, although he brings a wealth of coaching experience from various positions.

Prior to joining Brentford, he served as an assistant manager at MK Dons, worked with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 and senior national teams under Stephen Kenny, and was part of Chris Wilder’s coaching staff at Sheffield United.

As a player, Andrews was a midfielder who earned 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland and featured at UEFA Euro 2012.

He had a 16-year playing career with clubs including Wolverhampton Wanderers, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers.

In his first interview as head coach, Andrews expressed his humility and honor at being chosen to lead the club.

He emphasized his desire for Brentford to play “winning football” that is “competitive, dynamic, and relentless,” while also maintaining strong organization.

He highlighted the club’s potential, the quality of the players, and the dedicated staff as key factors that excite him.

Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles, praised Andrews as a “very good fit,” citing his strong relationships within the club, his open-mindedness, and his willingness to learn.

Giles expressed confidence that Andrews will bring his own evolution to the team while building on the foundations laid by Frank.

Andrews now faces the challenge of building on Brentford’s recent Premier League success, while also navigating potential squad changes, including the reported departure of captain Christian Nørgaard to Arsenal.

His first Premier League game in charge is set to be an away fixture against Nottingham Forest on August 17.
