In a move that has sent shockwaves through both the English and Brazilian football landscapes, Jesse Lingard is set to join Corinthians.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United and England star has reached a verbal agreement on a one-year deal with the São Paulo giants, including an option to extend for a further season.
Lingard arrives as a free agent after a successful, if brief, stint with South Korea’s FC Seoul. During his time in the K-League, he recaptured his spark, scoring 19 goals across 67 appearances and proving his fitness and flair remain intact.
Despite lucrative proposals from several MLS franchises and interest from European sides like Genoa and West Ham, Lingard was reportedly swayed by the “Corinthians Project” and the chance to test himself in South America.
The United Reunion
The move sets up a tantalizing reunion at the Neo Química Arena. Lingard will once again share a locker room with former Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay, who has become a fan favorite for Timão since joining in 2024.
The prospect of these two creative forces linking up under manager Dorival Júnior has already ignited a social media frenzy among the Corinthians faithful.
“Brazil has always held a special place in football history,” a source close to the player noted. “Jesse is hungry for a new challenge and the atmosphere at Corinthians is something he’s been eager to experience.”
Lingard is expected to fly into São Paulo this weekend to undergo medical examinations before putting pen to paper.
