The former AC Milan player, a versatile full-back and winger, made the announcement on social media, bringing an end to a distinguished career that saw him play for some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.

Florenzi’s career was defined by his long and successful spell at his boyhood club, AS Roma, where he came through the youth ranks and made over 280 appearances across all competitions.

A true fan favourite, he was known for his tireless work rate, passionate performances, and stunning goals, including a memorable strike from the halfway line against Barcelona.

In his final years, Florenzi ventured beyond Rome, gaining valuable experience at top clubs on loan spells with Valencia and Paris Saint-Germain before making a permanent move to AC Milan.

His time with the Rossoneri was a success, as he played a key role in their 2021-22 Serie A title win.

His contract with AC Milan expired this summer, and after becoming a free agent, he decided it was the right time to hang up his boots.

A winner of the UEFA Euro 2020 with the Italian national team, Florenzi leaves the sport with a number of accolades to his name.

In his retirement statement, he expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and the fans who supported him throughout his journey, leaving a lasting legacy as a beloved and respected figure in Italian football.
