The move ensures the highly influential midfielder will remain a cornerstone of the club’s midfield alongside compatriot Lionel Messi for the foreseeable future.

Inter Miami will pay a fee of €15 million (or approximately $17 million USD) to secure De Paul’s services, making it one of the most expensive transfers in Major League Soccer history.

The 31-year-old, who initially joined Inter Miami on a loan deal until the end of the 2025 MLS season, quickly established himself as a vital component of the team, playing a crucial role in their recent MLS Cup victory, where he scored the title-clinching goal.

With this permanent acquisition, De Paul will occupy one of the Designated Player (DP) spots, filling an opening created by the recent retirements of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

The deal sees De Paul commit his long-term future to the Florida club on a contract that runs until 2029.

The move signals Inter Miami’s clear intent to continue investing heavily to maintain their dominance in MLS and compete in the Concacaf Champions Cup next season.
