Sevilla and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is set to spend time on the sidelines after the club confirmed he will undergo arthroscopic surgery in the Netherlands.

The 29-year-old has been battling a persistent foot injury for several months, notably sustaining a blow while playing for Real Betis (where he was on loan earlier this season) in November.
Despite the discomfort, Amrabat delayed the procedure to represent Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he famously “played through the pain” to help his country reach the latter stages.
Recovery Timeline
- The Procedure: A minor arthroscopy to clean up the joint and address the source of chronic pain.
- Rehabilitation: Amrabat will remain in the Netherlands for the initial post-operative phase before returning to Seville to begin his specialized recovery program.
- Expected Return: While an exact date hasn’t been set, similar procedures typically sideline players for 4 to 6 weeks, putting him in a race to be fit for the crucial final stretch of the La Liga season.
Sevilla, who recently secured Amrabat on a new loan deal from Fenerbahçe this January, will now have to look for internal solutions in midfield as their marquee winter signing begins his road to recovery.
