HERE WE GO: Seko Fofana to FC Porto!

FC Porto have reached a full agreement to sign Seko Fofana on loan from Rennes. After days of negotiations, the “Dragons” have locked in the Ivorian powerhouse to reinforce Francesco Farioli’s midfield for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old international, who was a key figure in Ivory Coast’s recent AFCON campaigns, is set to travel to Portugal today to undergo his medical and sign his contract.

The Deal Details

  • The Formula: A straight loan deal until June 30, 2026.
  • The Option: The agreement includes a purchase option clause (reportedly around €8 million–€10 million), though it is not mandatory.
  • The Rationale: Fofana has seen limited minutes at Rennes this season and prioritized a move to Porto to maintain his high-level sharpness ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
  • The Farioli Factor: Coach Farioli personally requested Fofana to add “physicality and leadership” to a midfield that has seen heavy rotation recently.

A Busy Window for Porto

Fofana becomes the fourth major winter addition at the Estádio do Dragão, joining:

  • Thiago Silva (Free agent/Fluminense)
  • Terem Moffi (Loan from Nice)
  • Oskar Pietuszewski (Permanent from Jagiellonia)
The move was made possible after Porto cleared squad space by facilitating the expected departure of Stephen Eustáquio, who is seeking more regular playing time elsewhere.
