HERE WE GO: Jhon Durán to Zenit!

The 22-year-old Colombian’s nomadic journey continues as he heads to Russia to become the focal point of Zenit’s attack for the remainder of the season.

The “Three-Way” Deal

  • The Break: Fenerbahçe and José Mourinho have agreed to terminate Durán’s season-long loan early following a turbulent period in Istanbul marked by 5 goals and some off-field friction.
  • The New Destination: Al Nassr (his parent club) has immediately sanctioned a fresh loan to Zenit.
  • The Terms: A straight loan until June 30, 2026. Crucially, there is NO buy option clause included, as Al Nassr still holds out hope of recouperating a large portion of the £64m fee they paid Aston Villa last year.
  • The Salary: Zenit will cover the entirety of Durán’s significant wage package for the next five months.

The Lille & Spurs “What Ifs”

While Lille were heavily linked throughout January, the deal never progressed to the final stages due to the French club’s inability to match his wage demands. Tottenham were also offered the player as a last-minute opportunity but opted to pass, clearing the way for Zenit to secure their man.

The Nomadic Rising Star

In just over a year, Durán has now been on the books of:

  • Aston Villa (Premier League)
  • Al Nassr (Saudi Pro League)
  • Fenerbahçe (Süper Lig)
  • Zenit (Russian Premier League)
Durán is currently on a flight to Saint Petersburg for his medical and official unveiling. He arrives at a Zenit side currently locked in a fierce title race, trailing leaders Krasnodar by just a single point.
