Editorial Guidelines
Last updated:
At sureodds.ng, our goal is to publish accurate, timely and original football/sports analysis that helps readers make informed decisions. These guidelines explain our standards for sourcing, review, and corrections.
Our Content Types
- News & Updates: Short reports about fixtures, injuries, suspensions, transfers, and official announcements.
- Previews & Analysis: Longer articles covering form, tactics, head-to-head data, and contextual factors.
- Opinion & Commentary: Clearly labelled perspective pieces by named authors.
- Educational Guides: Tutorials on understanding stats, odds formats, and responsible wagering.
Sourcing Standards
- We rely on primary sources whenever possible: official club/league communications, team press conferences, verified player/coach statements, and governing-body documents.
- When using third-party data (e.g., Opta, league databases, reputable sports outlets), we name the source and link where available.
- Rumours and unverified claims are either avoided or clearly labelled as such until confirmed.
- Quotes are reproduced faithfully and placed in context. Editing is limited to clarity, brevity and grammar without changing meaning.
Originality & Plagiarism
All articles must be original work. We do not publish scraped, auto-generated, or copy-pasted content. When we reference external material, we attribute and add our own analysis and value.
Use of Statistics & Methodology
- We explain what a metric means (e.g., xG, PPDA) and why it matters in context.
- When we build models or projections, we briefly describe the assumptions and limitations.
- Tables/graphics are labelled with the data source and the date range covered.
Independence & Conflicts of Interest
Editors and contributors must disclose any material relationship that could influence coverage (club employment, sponsorships, paid partnerships). Sponsored content is clearly marked and separated from editorial work.
Fairness & Right of Reply
If an article includes critical claims about a person, club or company, we seek their comment or include their publicly available position. We update the piece if a response arrives later.
Corrections & Updates
- We correct factual errors promptly and transparently. Substantive changes are noted at the end of the article with a timestamp.
- Minor edits (spelling/formatting) may be made without a note.
- To request a correction, email editor@sureodds.ng or use our Contact page. Include the URL, the issue, and supporting evidence.
AI & Automation
We may use AI tools for research assistance or drafting, but every article is reviewed and edited by a human for accuracy, clarity, and originality before publication.
User-Generated Content
Comments and community submissions must follow our site rules. We may remove content that is abusive, illegal, or misleading.
