Real Madrid’s strategy for the 2026–27 season is coming into sharp focus. Following a highly successful six-month loan spell in France, the club has internally decided that Endrick will return to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer to become a permanent fixture in the first-team squad.

Real Madrid’s Forward Shake-up: Endrick Returning to Join Mbappé and Vinícius

The Return of the “Jewel”

Endrick’s stint at Olympique Lyon has been nothing short of transformative. Since moving to Ligue 1 in the winter, the 19-year-old Brazilian has silenced critics by netting 7 goals and providing 6 assists in just 17 matches.

  • The Vision: Real Madrid’s hierarchy, led by Florentino Pérez, believes the loan achieved its primary goal: giving Endrick the minutes and European rhythm he lacked during the first half of the season under Xabi Alonso.
  • Versatility: While naturally a striker, Endrick’s performances on the right wing for Lyon have convinced Madrid that he can form a devastating “BMV” front three alongside Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.
  • Player Stance: Endrick has reportedly welcomed the news with enthusiasm, feeling more prepared than ever to fight for his place at the world’s most demanding club.

The Domino Effect: Gonzalo García

The decision to integrate Endrick into the squad has immediate consequences for the club’s other rising star, Gonzalo García.

After a stellar performance at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup—where he won the Golden Boot—García established himself as a fan favorite. However, the club’s philosophy is to avoid “stunting the growth” of young talents by keeping too many options for the same role.

With Endrick set to serve as the primary backup to Mbappé and a contender for the right-wing spot, reports from The Athletic and AS suggest that Gonzalo García will be allowed to leave this summer, likely to a Bundesliga club or a high-level Spanish side where he can be an automatic starter.

Awaiting the “Green Light”

While the sporting department has made its choice, the final approval is pending the resolution of the managerial situation. With Alvaro Arbeloa expected to depart, the club is currently weighing high-profile candidates—including José Mourinho and Jürgen Klopp.

Once the new manager is appointed, they will have the final say on the squad’s composition, though the board’s “absolute commitment” to Endrick makes his return almost certain.

With Endrick proving he can shine on the right wing in France, do you think a front three of Vini Jr., Mbappé, and Endrick is the most balanced way for Madrid to line up next season, or would you prefer to see Rodrygo maintain his spot?
