In one of the most poignant storylines of the season, Dele Alli has returned to Tottenham Hotspur. However, this isn’t a transfer—at least, not yet.

A Homecoming for the Heart: Dele Alli Returns to Tottenham Training Ground

The 29-year-old former England star has been granted special permission to use the club’s world-class facilities at Hotspur Way as he intensifies his search for a new club and a fresh start in football.

The news, confirmed today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, follows Dele’s emotional appearance as a guest of honor during the North London Derby against Arsenal last month. After a grueling year of uncertainty, the midfielder is now back on the grass in North London, working individually with a private coach to regain the match fitness that once made him the most feared young player in Europe.

The Road Back from Como

Dele’s journey since leaving the Premier League has been fraught with challenges. After a high-profile move to Italian side Como in early 2025, his stint under Cesc Fàbregas ended abruptly.

A solitary nine-minute appearance, marred by a red card, proved to be his only contribution before his contract was terminated in September 2025.

Having been a free agent for the last seven months, Dele has been open about his desire to return to the pitch.

“I hope you’ve missed me as much as I’ve missed you,” Dele told a capacity crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium two weeks ago. “I can’t wait to get back on the pitch playing; hopefully, it won’t be too long now.”

Spurs: A Support System, Not a Signing (Yet)

While romantic rumors of a permanent return to the Spurs first team under Igor Tudor have surfaced, the club has clarified that this is strictly a support arrangement.

Dele is not currently training with the senior squad but is utilizing the academy pitches to stay in peak physical condition.

The gesture highlights the deep, familial bond that remains between the player and the club where he scored 67 goals and reached a Champions League final.

What’s Next? The 2026 Goal

Despite nearly a year without competitive minutes, Dele remains remarkably ambitious. He famously keeps a daily reminder on his phone that simply reads: “World Cup 2026.”

With interest reportedly brewing from La Liga outfits—including Sevilla and Getafe—and several Championship clubs, the 29-year-old is looking for a project that offers him a platform for redemption.

For many fans, seeing him back in Spurs colors, even on the training pitches, is a heartening sign that one of football’s most gifted talents isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet.
