Harry Kane has expressed his disappointment over the recent spate of withdrawals from the England squad.
The Tottenham Hotspur captain believes that playing for England should be a top priority for all players.
He praised Gareth Southgate for fostering a positive and exciting atmosphere within the national team
.
“Gareth Southgate brought the joy to play for England back,” Kane said. “Every camp people were excited to come, every camp people wanted to play for England and that’s the most important thing.”
However, the recent withdrawals have cast a shadow over the team’s preparations.
Kane suggested that some players may have taken advantage of the demanding club schedule.
“It’s a shame this week, obviously. It’s a tough period of the season and maybe that’s been taken advantage of a little bit,” he added.
“I don’t really like it if I’m totally honest. England comes before anything and any club situation.”
Kane’s comments highlight the importance of national team duty and the need for players to prioritize their country.
