Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has reportedly made the renewal of Vinícius Júnior’s contract his “absolute priority” as the club enters a critical phase of its sporting project.

Real Madrid president keen on securing Vinícius Jr’s future, talks ongoing.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pérez is personally leading the charge, obsessed with ensuring the Brazilian winger signs a long-term extension as soon as possible.

The push for a new deal comes after a period of significant uncertainty at the Santiago Bernabéu. Earlier in the season, during Xabi Alonso’s brief and tense tenure as manager, rumors swirled that Vinícius was considering a move away, with major interest coming from the Saudi Pro League and several Premier League giants.

At one point, reports even suggested the player had communicated he would not renew while the previous coaching staff was in place.

However, the landscape has shifted dramatically in 2026. Under the leadership of Álvaro Arbeloa, Vinícius has rediscovered his world-class form, most recently scoring a decisive brace in the 3-2 Madrid derby victory over Atlético.

With his current contract set to expire in June 2027, Pérez wants to kill off any remaining transfer speculation before the summer window opens.

While the “feeling” between the club and the player is now described as excellent, the negotiations aren’t without hurdles.

The main sticking point remains the financial package; Vinícius is reportedly seeking a salary that would put him on par with Kylian Mbappé as the club’s top earner—a figure thought to be around €30 million per season.

For now, a formal proposal is on the table, and the ball is in the player’s court. Real Madrid is pushing for a “here we go” before the end of the season, viewing the 25-year-old as an untouchable pillar of the team’s future alongside Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.
