The “first point of February” rule has been triggered! AS Roma have officially converted the loan of Daniele Ghilardi from Hellas Verona into a permanent transfer.
The 23-year-old center-back, who has become a key part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical setup in the capital, is now tied to the club long-term.

The obligation to buy was activated following Roma’s recent Serie A fixture against Cagliari, meeting the specific performance-related conditions set out in the original August 2025 agreement.
The Financial Package
- The Loan Fee: Roma already paid €2.5 million upfront last summer.
- The Permanent Fee: An additional €8 million fixed payment.
- The Add-ons: Up to €1 million in performance-related bonuses.
- Total Investment: The deal reaches a total package of €11.5 million.
The Fiorentina Windfall
Because of a massive 50% sell-on clause included when Ghilardi moved from Florence to Verona in 2022, the fee will be split down the middle:
- Hellas Verona: Will receive €4 million (plus 50% of bonuses).
- Fiorentina: Will also receive €4 million (plus 50% of bonuses), marking a significant profit for a player who initially left them for less than €400k.
The Future Core
Ghilardi has signed a contract extension that keeps him at the Stadio Olimpico until June 30, 2030. Alongside Ziolkowski and Ndicka, Ghilardi is viewed by the Giallorossi board as a pillar of the defense for the next decade.
Since breaking into the starting XI in December, he has helped Roma maintain one of the most improved defensive records in the league.
“Daniele represents the profile we want: young, Italian, and tactically disciplined. He has earned this permanent move on the pitch.” — AS Roma Statement
