BARCELONA, SPAIN – FC Barcelona has received a significant boost on the injury front with the return of goalkeeper Joan García to full first-team training.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who had been sidelined since late September, joined his teammates for the session at the Spotify Camp Nou.
On Schedule After Meniscus Surgery
García, who was signed in the summer, had made a strong start to the season before suffering a small tear in the internal meniscus of his left knee during a La Liga match on September 25.
He subsequently underwent arthroscopic surgery on September 27.
His return to full group training marks the successful end of his initial six-week recovery period, keeping him perfectly on schedule.
The sight of García training alongside the group was met with cheers from the 23,000 fans present at the Camp Nou for the open session, signaling a crucial step forward in the club’s injury recovery process.
No Risks: Return Targeted Post-International Break
Despite the positive progress, the Barcelona staff is determined to avoid any setbacks and will adopt a cautious approach to his competitive return. Coach Hansi Flick has been clear that the team will not rush the goalkeeper back into action.
- Immediate Games: García is unlikely to be risked for the upcoming La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo.
- Targeted Return: The plan is for the Spanish international to make his official return to the matchday squad for games straight after the final international break of 2025, which runs from November 10-18.
This points to a potential return for the La Liga encounter against Athletic Club.
His reintegration will provide much-needed competition and depth in the goalkeeping department as the team manages a demanding schedule.
