Inter Seeks Permission to Talk with Cesc Fàbregas for Coaching Role

Inter Milan have reportedly made an official request to Como for permission to open talks with Cesc Fàbregas regarding a potential coaching role at the club.

While there has been no direct contact with Fàbregas himself yet, Inter are now ready to present their project to the Spanish manager. The timing and final decision on these talks depend entirely on Como.

This development comes as Simone Inzaghi has officially parted ways with Inter Milan, confirmed on Tuesday, to take over as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

This leaves a significant vacancy at the helm of the Serie A champions.

Fàbregas, at 38 years old, has swiftly risen through the coaching ranks at Como since retiring as a player there in July 2023.

He initially coached Como’s U19 team, then served as caretaker manager before becoming the permanent manager in July 2024.

He impressively guided Como to a 10th-place finish in Serie A in their first season back in the top flight after over two decades, a remarkable achievement that has garnered significant attention across Europe.

Despite reports suggesting that Como is confident Fàbregas will stay, and even talk of a potential move to RB Leipzig earlier, Inter’s direct approach signals their serious intent.

Their move for Fàbregas highlights a desire for a young, ambitious coach with a deep understanding of tactical football, a philosophy honed under some of the world’s best managers during his playing career (including Arsène Wenger and Pep Guardiola).

The ball is now in Como’s court to grant permission, after which Inter can formally present their vision to Fàbregas for their future under new leadership.
