Following the successful agreement of a new contract for Raphinha, Barcelona are now turning their attention to securing the future of defender Eric García.

Negotiations are reportedly underway with sporting director Deco to finalize a new deal for the Spanish center-back.
This comes after Barcelona rejected an €8 million bid from newly-promoted Como for García in January, signaling their desire to keep him at the club. García’s current contract is set to expire in June 2026, and Barcelona aims to tie him down to a longer term.
In addition to García, Barcelona’s comprehensive contract renewal plan extends to two promising La Masia talents, Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal. Both players are expected to sign new contracts in the upcoming weeks.
This move underscores Barcelona’s commitment to securing their bright young prospects and integrating them into the long-term vision of the club under Hansi Flick.
Marc Casadó, a defensive midfielder and captain of Barcelona Atlètic, already signed a new contract until June 2028 in June 2024. This new round of talks could be to further improve his terms or officially promote him to the first team squad.
Marc Bernal, another highly-rated defensive midfielder from the academy, also extended his contract with Barcelona until June 2026 with an option for three more years, effectively tying him down until 2029, and has a €500 million release clause.
These upcoming renewals for Casadó and Bernal reinforce Barcelona’s strategy of nurturing and retaining homegrown talent as a cornerstone of their future success.
