Positive news has emerged regarding the condition of Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

The Nigerian international has woken from the induced coma he was placed in following urgent surgery to repair a serious abdominal injury sustained during Sunday’s Premier League match against Leicester City.
Awoniyi underwent the first stage of his surgery on Monday night. As part of the procedure and to aid his recovery, medical staff at the hospital kept him in an induced coma throughout Tuesday, closely monitoring his progress.
According to reports from BBC Sport, the second and final stage of the operation, which included closing the surgical wound, was successfully completed on Wednesday.
Following this, Awoniyi was brought out of the induced coma on Wednesday evening.
This positive development will bring immense relief to Awoniyi’s family, friends, teammates, and the wider football community who have been sending their well wishes.
While he will now begin a period of recovery and rehabilitation, waking from the induced coma is a significant step on his road back to full health.
